Did you know that changes to Statutory Maternity Leave and Pay took effect from 1 April 2007? For instance:
- All employees are now entitled to 52 weeks' maternity leave, there is no longer a qualifying period
- If an employee qualifies for Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) you need to pay it to them for 39 weeks (increased from 26 weeks)
- Up to 10 "Keeping in touch days" are now allowed, where the employee can do some work for you during maternity leave without
losing their right to SMP
To find out more about all the changes that have been introduced, contact us.
Are you aware of all the other types of leave that your employees are entitled to? They include:
- Paternity leave
- Parental leave
- Adoption leave
- Time off for dependants
Our full outsourced HR management service includes all these procedures as well as advice and guidance when you need it.
For instance, do you know how to recruit somebody to cover for an employee on maternity leave without leaving yourself open to a
claim of unfair dismissal at the end of the contract? What do you do about annual leave entitlement for someone about to go on potentially
a year's maternity or adoption leave? Guidance on all these issues and more is all part of the service.
